A domain name is a unique address that allows you to reach an organization or other entity on the Internet. For the domain name "flintiplaw.com," the "com" part of the domain name is the top-level domain name. The "flintiplaw" part of the domain name together with the top-level is the second-level domain name. Domain name registration is coordinated globally by a not-for-profit corporation called ICANN.
Often disputes arise when a domain name includes the trademark of another person.
If that happens, the trademark owner may demand that the domain name owner give up the domain name.
ICANN drafted the Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) for inexpensive and quick resolution of domain name disputes through arbitration rather than by court action. Each domain registrant must agree to be bound by the UDRP.
